We are located in North East, MD and is located at the head of the Chesapeake Bay, on the Northeast River, about 50 miles from Baltimore and Philadelphia.  Northeast, settled prior to 1700 and incorporated in 1850, is rich in history. We are affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, The ELCA is a community of faith that shares a passion for making positive changes in the world. Our faith is built around a strong belief in God as made known to us in Jesus Christ. Through worship, service, and education, we practice our faith, grow our relationship with God and experience God's grace in our lives. People of Bethel

Bethel is a welcoming congregation made up of persons of all ages. Children are included in all congregational activities. As the only Lutheran Church in Cecil County, Bethel is most concerned to include persons from many backgrounds who reflect a wide range of skills and interests. We are young in spirit and committed to the growth of every member in worship, learning, and Christian service.

At Bethel we follow a traditional form of worship as well as many other special worship and educational experiences, such as monthly contemporary services (see calendar). We invite you to join with us at Bethel as we work together to be the Church in this "Place of God" where we have been called to serve.

Purpose Statement

God's purpose for Bethel is to be disciples and make disciples of Jesus, who pray, love, witness, share, and serve.

Statement Of Faith

The Lutheran faith is centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ.  We believe that God is three in one, or triune.  We believe that the Son of God became a human being to suffer and die for the sins of the world so that all who believe in Him will not perish but through His substitution for us on the cross we are given forgiveness and eternal life.
